Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 25, 2026

This policy describes how MK Group Briefing (newsletter.mkbayarea.com) handles subscriber data. It covers every disclosure required under California's CCPA / CPRA.

Information we collect

Provided by you when you subscribe: email address, language preference (Chinese or English), source site (which MK Group property you subscribed from). If you use the Subscribe with Google one-click button, we additionally receive your Google account email.

Collected automatically (anti-abuse only): IP address, browser metadata, submission timestamp, UTM parameters (when present), HTTP referrer.

Email engagement data: whether you opened each issue and whether you clicked links inside it, with timestamps — used to evaluate content quality and identify long-term inactive subscribers.

How we use this information

Deliver the weekly briefing you subscribed to; send subscribe confirmation and welcome emails; stop sending immediately when you unsubscribe.

Anti-abuse: throttle single-IP bursts, detect disposable-email services, prevent bot signups.

Improve content quality: aggregated (non-identifying) open and click rates inform which topics resonate.

We do not use your information for any purpose beyond the above.

Who we share with

Resend: our email delivery provider; every issue is sent through Resend.

Cloudflare Turnstile: bot protection on the subscribe form; runs background verification.

Google: when you use Subscribe with Google, we verify your email through Google Sign-In.

Feishu / Lark Bitable: subscriber data is stored in MK Group's Feishu workspace, visible only to team members.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party and do not share it with any advertising network.

Your rights (CCPA / CPRA)

Right to Know: you can ask us to disclose what personal information we hold about you, its source, how we use it, and with whom we share it.

Right to Delete: you can ask us to permanently remove all of your information from our subscriber database.

Right to Correct: you can ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.

Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: we do not collect any of the categories defined as Sensitive Personal Information under CCPA (e.g. Social Security numbers, government IDs, precise geolocation), so no limitation is needed.

Right to Non-Discrimination: exercising any of the above rights will not result in reduced service or differential treatment.

You may also unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email — no contact with us required.

How to exercise your rights

Email us at kevin.mo@mkregroup.info with the subject line "Privacy Request". We will respond within 45 days (the CCPA-mandated window). For identity verification, we may ask you to confirm the email address used to subscribe.

Data retention

Active subscribers: retained for the duration of your subscription; after unsubscribe, we retain the email (as a hashed value) to prevent re-subscription.

Bounced or complained emails: permanently retained in our suppression list to prevent further sending.

Email engagement data (opens / clicks): retained alongside the corresponding subscriber record.

Cookies and third-party tracking

This website does not use tracking cookies and does not use third-party analytics such as Google Analytics or the Facebook Pixel. Resend generates anonymous tracking pings when you open or click links in our emails; these are used only for evaluating content within this service.

Changes to this policy

We will notify all active subscribers by email before any material change (such as adding a new data-sharing partner) takes effect. Minor wording adjustments will simply update this page and refresh the effective date above.
