Labor Day

Happy Labor Day from all of us at MK Group. The holiday was made to honor work, so let this last weekend of summer be one of rest: close the laptop, gather with family, and step into fall unhurried.

Monday is Labor Day — by custom the line between the Bay Area's summer market and the fall listing season, and this year the data moved before the calendar did. Over the past seven days, 140 homes came onto our off-market radar, half again as many as the 92 a week earlier, lifting the tracked pool to 455. Thirteen of them landed in the nine luxury towns, six in Menlo Park alone, which climbed from three homes to eight and now shares the deepest quiet inventory with Los Altos Hills. Palo Alto, which took in seven last week, added none and slipped to seven; Woodside also stood still, and the nine towns hold 52 between them. Fall has long been the year's second listing window after spring — if the home you are waiting for is one that trades away from the open market, the next few weeks deserve more of your attention than the summer did.
